CO2 Rising: The US Space Agency (NASA) has presented a map in which it has claimed that deadly clouds of carbon dioxide are seen hovering over the world. To make this map, NASA has collected data from January to March 2020. By zooming through these maps, one can see how much carbon dioxide emissions have increased in power plants, fires and cities, which is spreading rapidly across continents and oceans.

Meanwhile, Leslie Ott, a climate scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, said, “As policymakers and scientists, we’re trying to understand where carbon comes from and how it affects the planet. You can see here how everything is connected to these different weather patterns.”

CO2 is spreading rapidly due to deforestation

Climate scientist Leslie Ott further explained that in China, the United States and South Asia, most of the emissions have come from electric power plants, industrial facilities and cars and trucks. If we talk about Africa and South America, most of the carbon dioxide emissions are spreading from forest fires. The reason for this is land management. Controlled agricultural methods and deforestation. Apart from this, carbon dioxide is also being released from the burning of oil and coal here.

The more CO2 is released, the faster the weather will change

However, this map has been created using NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio. For this, scientists took the help of Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS). Its resolution is 100 times more than a normal weather model. In such a situation, climate scientist Leslie Ott and other climate scientists wanted to know whether the earth’s weather will change if more carbon dioxide is released?

Every year the heat is increasing rapidly, the reason is CO2

During this time, NASA scientists said that the year 2023 was the hottest year in the world. But now this year is also turning out to be hot. In such a situation, the main reason for this heat in many places is the high emission of carbon dioxide. It has increased from about 278 parts per million in 1750 at the beginning of the industrial era to 427 parts per million in May 2024.
